What do we mean when we say reach your shared reality?
In the world of relationships, it’s easy for us to think “I’m right, and you’re wrong” or “I can’t figure out why you did that.” or even “How in the world could people possibly do this or that to me?”
We’ve all been there.
In every situation there are two perspectives: the other person’s reality and our own reality. Yet somewhere in between lies what we call…
Shared Reality…. a place where both sides can truly meet each other.
The key to reaching this shared reality isn’t about clinging to your own convictions and making the other person’s actions wrong.
Instead, you can try this powerful practice of “assuming the best.”
When you “assume the best,” you recognize that everyone’s doing their best based on what information that they know and have that you may not.
This practice can bridge the gap between misunderstandings and build bridges of empathy in your interactions and connections.
So, the next time you want more love and understanding in your relationships, try practicing the principle of “Assuming The Best”. It’s a small thing that can make a big difference, helping you connect better and really get where each other is coming from.
And if you want to nurture and enhance your relationships and commit to understanding others as you reach your shared reality, join us for the next Wisdom Jam for couples.
